Black Canyon Trail for Hikes, Mountain Bikes and Horses
We[re always looking for new trails to explore here in Arizona.
The Black Canyon Trail offers 80 miles of trail that's open to hikers, bikers and equestrians..stretches north from Carefree Highway near Phoenix to past Mayer.
There are trail heads at Black Canyon City, Bumble Bee and Cordes Junction exits.
It was used for travel by Native Americans, then a stage road and by ranchers to move livestock. It was established as a livestock driveway in 1919 to move sheep to the north country. It is still used by one family.
For maps and more information, visit the Black Canyon Trail Coalition website

Great Saturday at Camp Soaring Eagle
Last Saturday was my first time to volunteer with Horses with H.E.A.R.T -- what a great group of volunteers, horses and kids.
The event was a weekend camp at Jackpot Ranch in Camp Verde for youth with life-threatening illnesses.
I'll be adding more later...

Bizz Johnson "Rails-to-Trails" near Susanville, CA
Trail map
Bike the Bizz Shuttle Bus registration form. Shuttle runs once a day, arrive 8:00 a.m., leaves at 8:20 a.m.
I'll be adding more to this as I gather information. We stopped at the historic train station last year and checked it out. On this summer's trip up to Oregon to see grand kids, we plan to ride the Biz.

Camp Soaring Eagle
This Saturday I'll be volunteering with Horses with H.E.A.R.T. at Camp Soaring Eagle in the Verde Valley.
What a great group of volunteers and horses. This will be my first time helping to support the riders so I'm pretty excited. HwH is very organized, gave us great annual training and has been in existence for 18 years.
HwH just got some new property just as you come into Chino Valley from the south.
