Nice Cross Country Skiing at the Nordic Center

Perfect skiing for me on the Dog Trail at the Nordic Center outside of Flagstaff, AZ, heading towards the Grand Canyon....just a little bit past the Snow Bowl turn off.  They rent skis and fat tire bikes, but just the trail pass is $12.

Took me an hour to do the Loop, nice and flat for creaky knees.

Prescott Dog Park Will have $500,000 for Renovations

Wow!  What a great things for our dog-friendly community!  A huge thank you to Linda Nichols who spearheaded the request for the $500,000 towards a new dog park that will honor our fallen Hotshot firefighters.

One For the Verde

Ash Creek Nativities is becoming a contributor to "One for the Verde" a new local program developed by the Verde Valley Land Preservation conservation group with help from Sustainable Arizona.

Steve Estes is the outreach director for Verde Valley Land Preservation.  About 35 Verde Valley businesses will be participating in the program by the end of 2013, including real estate offices, retail stores, doctors, restaurants, architects and lodging establishments.

"Sustainable Arizona" president,  John Neville, says the goal is to expand the program to the Prescott area.

Businesses and volunteers interested in supporting the project can contact Neville at 928-300-2437 or send an email to info@onefortheverde.org.

Another way to support preservation of the Verde River is to take friends to visit it, canoe or kayak it (possibly from Childs to Horseshoe Dam).

For more information, visit the group's website at One For The Verde

List of Things That I'm Going to Need Them to Open For Me in the Store as I Get Older....

 1.  HP, High Capacity XL Cartridges (More pages, more savings...)

The packaging is actually translated into French & English which always sets my mind to spinning...why just the two languages?  Hmmm.  There is a beautiful butterfly on some type of pod-like looking flower...maybe a lotus?  The only problem is....I can't get it open...Tried cutting along the dotted line of the HUGE package (which is why I was trying to get the little cartridges out so that I could put them in a Baggie...would they dry out without that protective packaging?) I couldn't BEGIN to have enough hand strength to cut through it.  I tried to cut slightly to the side, there weren't so many layers of cardboard, but of course, the indestructible package was still sealed firmly.  I'd just managed to cut off one edge.  Sigh.  Hack saw?  Anyway...it has motivated me (since at this point I'm "only" 61) to start preparing this list of things to take to Customer Service at the point of purchase and ask them to free their product from the @%$## packaging.

This is kind of out of focus -- I was probably shaking from the exertion.

(I'll be adding to this list, believe you me!  Amazing how anger DOES motivate us...)
